Some great things to do in Dublin
Everyone that comes to Ireland ends up in Dublin at some point. The airport offers a half hourly service into the centre via O’Connell Street and you are soon in the heart of the city. But, what is there to do here? The answer is more than you can possibly imagine but let’s have a look at a few options.
- Catch a hurling match. Hurling is a fast, contact sport that is played at Croke Park in Dublin and throughout the country. It’s a form of Hockey but the sticks can go above the waist. Games are hotly contested and a real spectacle. The game isn’t really played outside of Ireland so it’s a good chance to see it. If you fancy having a go at it there are plenty of Chiropractor Dublin based operations to help you recover afterwards!
- The Book of Kells. A much more sedate way to spend the afternoon. This a huge book of the gospels illuminated by Columban Monks (followers of Saint Columba). It features incredibly ornate celtic knots and delicate detail of certain scenes from the New Testament.
- A Duck Tour. Dublin’s life blood is the RIver Liffey and it’s link out to the Irish Sea. The only way to see it is to take the Viking Amphibious tour that uses ex-Military Amphibious vehicles that can go up the Liffey and off it.
- The Guinness Storehouse at St James Gate. Ireland and Guinness go hand in hand. Come and see where the story started and how it continues today.
