Getting engaged is an exciting event; however, choosing where to propose to a partner can be tricky. Despite this, people are becoming more and more imaginative when planning their special moment. Here are four truly romantic destinations in France – some of the most perfect places to pop the question.

The Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris

The Eiffel Tower is a popular place to propose, but what if you want to avoid the cliche – not to mention the throngs of tourists? The Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris offers a variety of options for a romantic proposal. La Galerie is especially pretty, with its grand piano, beautiful chandeliers and 19th-century paintings; alternatively, why not push the boat out and book into the penthouse suite, where you and your bride- or groom-to-be can enjoy an intimate meal looking out across Paris.

Aix-Les-Bains

One of France’s famous spa towns, Aix-les-Bains welcomes 28,000 visitors each year, who travel from all over the world to enjoy luxurious treatments beside Lac du Bourget. Sitting at the foot of the impressive Mont Revard, the location benefits from some truly breathtaking views within a vast and unspoilt natural environment.

Chenonceau Castle

Situated in the Loire, Chenonceau Castle is extraordinarily beautiful. Built in the 11th century, the castle sits on the Cher river and is very easily accessed via public transport. For a fixed admission fee, visitors can see the castle, take a stroll round the gardens and visit the resident farm animals. This is a fantastic location for a proposal and a great location for some engagement destination photography, such as that provided by http://www.nickrutterphotography.co.uk/blog/engagements/.

Pont Neuf, Paris

A bit like Venice, Paris is rich in bridges and no two are alike. The Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge, built between 1587 and 1607. This was the very first stone bridge and was constructed as a means to connect the main city and the Île de la Cité. The bridge became a UNESCO world heritage site in 1991, having been named a National Heritage landmark in 1889. Many famous artists have been inspired by the bridge, including Victor Hugo and Renoir. In 1994, Kenzo covered the entire bridge in flowers. You don’t need a lorry load of flowers to make this bridge special – it is already a fantastic proposal location!
