Like many people my age I have a healthy obsession with all things wizard- like. My love of wizardry came long before Harry Potter, but the magical series cemented my obsession further. The other day I had finished reading the series books for about the tenth time since I was bought the box set for my birthday and I began to ponder which house I would have been sorted into had I been lucky enough to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The images in my head and that of the films of the boarding rooms makes my imagination think of the luxury they must have felt almost similar to staying in Cheltenham Serviced Apartments like those you can find at https://www.q-let.co.uk/

So anyway, I thought I would take you on a little tour of the four houses of Hogwarts.

Gryffindor – named after its founder Godric Gryffindor this house has as its emblem that’s of a lion in colours of scarlet and gold. This house values most bravery, daring and chivalry. As the colours on the emblem would suggest this house links to the element of Fire. The portrait of The Fat Lady guards the entrance to this house living quarters which can be found on the seventh floor in the one of the uppermost towers in the castle and is in the east wing. The well-known members of this house include of course Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Albus Dumbledore.

Ravenclaw – named after its founder Rowena Ravenclaw this house has an eagle as its emblem in colours of blue and bronze. This house values knowledge, intelligence and wit. With the colours of the emblem being blue and bronze it is evident that this house links to the element of air. Unlike the other house entrances Ravenclaw students must answer a riddle to enter their living quarters rather than giving a password. The entrance can be found on the west side of the castle in a tower. The well-known members of this house include Gilderoy Lockhart and the inventor of Floo Powder Ignatia Wildsmith.

Hufflepuff – named after its founder Helga Hufflepuff this house has the badger as its emblem with colours of yellow and black. This house values hard work, loyalty and dedication and is linked to the element of earth. Unlike the previous two houses the entrance to the Hufflepuff quarters is somewhere in the basement next to the kitchens. The common room is said to be adorned with comfortable arm chairs and is a cosy welcoming place. Well-known members include Artemisia Luftkin who was the first female Minister for Magic.

Slytherin – named after its founder Salazar slytherin this house emblem is that of a serpent and is engulfed in colours of emerald green and silver. This house values resourcefulness, cunning and ambition.  With a serpent as its emblem it is evident that this house links to the element of water. The living quarters for Slytherin aptly lie in the dungeons with the common room located beneath the Black Lake. Well-known members include Dolores Umbridge and of course Tom Riddle.
