How to store items in a warehouse
The storage of items in a warehouse is one that is meticulously planned out. With the advent of pallet racking and boltless racking, more and more goods can be stored in one place effectively. Many warehouses work on an aisle basis. This allows for staff to be able to find the goods ready for shipment a lot easier. Parts are labelled with an alphabetical system or a numerical system. Portable data capture units can be on hand to make sure that the stock levels stay exactly where they are meant to be. They will also take care of re-ordering.
Moving items around the warehouse could not be easier. With the use of pallets, storage of the products is a matter of simply placing plenty of items on top of each other. The pallets themselves present no problem in terms of movement. All that is needed are some Pallet Trucks. These handy devices slot underneath a pallet and allow it to be lifted a few inches off the ground. This is able to make all the difference when moving products from one area of the warehouse to another. It is also perfect for when looking to load up a vehicle for delivery. They can be obtained via Forklift and Pallet Trucks.
As common sense would suggest, heavier items are placed at the bottom or first shelf of the racking so as to add a bit of weight and anchor the racking. As you progress up the racking shelves there will be lighter and smaller objects.
